Technical Manager with a commercial mindset

You will join Rockfon which is part of the ROCKWOOL Group. Our stone wool ceiling panels are known for their beautiful aesthetics and key performance characteristics of superior acoustics, fire protection, humidity resistance, durability combined with high light reflection. We are committed to enriching the lives of everyone who experiences our acoustic solutions at places of education, work, leisure and healing.

This is the role

Reporting to our Business Unit Director, you will be responsible for driving the technical support of our sales organisation. Based at our HQ in Hedehusene, you will manage a team of 4 technical managers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland,  who are responsible for technical calculations and drawings in the sales process.

Thus, you will get an important mission: connecting our technical products and services with commercial needs. This means that you will help us reviewing our product portfolio to market demands and production options, always keeping the optimisation of our service concept in mind.

More specifically, you will:

  • Be responsible for project support to external sales teams, our Customer Support team and key customers
  • Collaborate closely with R&D and Product Management to ensure the right product portfolio
  • Secure a high level of technical expertise locally (i.e. sound calculations, quantity calculations and sketch drawings in CAD) while building on our global best practises
  • Keep a good overview of legislation requirements
  • Partake in meetings with the Nordic management team within marketing, sales, logistics and supply chain, and you should expect around 40 days of travelling a year

As you will work in a cross-functional, international organisation with stakeholders and colleagues in the Nordic countries, you need to be a result-oriented team player and good at building strong relations. With a proactive approach, you use your technical understanding to further build the commercial aspects of the business. In addition, you are a good listener and comfortable leading your team from the distance.  

Moreover, you:

  • Probably have a background as an engineer, acoustician or similar with a strong technical understanding
  • Have strong commercial skills and preferably experience with technical support of commercial organisations, maybe from a construction company, suppliers or the building industry
  • Have experience working in a cross-functional organisation, and if you have management experience it is a plus
  • Are fluent in English (written and spoken), and any Scandinavian language would be an added advantage
