Automation Software Engineer

08 October 2019

Our purpose is simple and compelling: To release the natural power of stone to enrich modern living.

ROCKWOOL products save energy and water and reduce CO2 emissions, protect buildings from the spread of fire; reduce waste; improve acoustic comfort, building performance and aesthetics; and enhance Precision Growing, thereby improving the efficiency of fresh food production.

While the stone we use may be millions of years old, what we do with it is cutting-edge. Every day, ROCKWOOL colleagues are developing and applying new technologies to release yet more potential of stone wool to enrich modern life.

Would you also be proud to enrich society like we do? Apply now to join us as we improve modern living conditions for millions of people worldwide.

Are you interested in development tools for automation of production processes? And would you like a highly independent role where you solve technical challenges in factories all over the world?

Then we need you for international assignments and projects in ROCKWOOL. You will get to drive and coordinate improvement initiatives within our automation software design and over time take ownership of relevant design standards within your area – standards that will be applied and enforced at ROCKWOOL manufacturing plants on a global scale.

This is who we are
You will be part of our Automation and Electrical Standards team in Group Technology Automation (GTA) and work from either our International Engineering offices in Hedehusene, Denmark, or in Cigacice, Poland.

We have the overall responsibility for automation in ROCKWOOL and act as in-house automation specialists and technical project managers to our production plants.

This is the role

  • You will be occupied with solving issues, optimising performances and running in new production lines, ensuring the automatic set-up operates as it should at our various production plants
  • You will contribute to developing new automation standards, keeping up with new technology
  • As you develop your skills, you will manage small to medium sized projects and coordinate the efforts of subsupplier partners

Assignments can vary from small machine deliveries and support cases to participation in large greenfield factory projects on a global scale – mainly in Europe, Asia and North America.

You will travel up to 80 days per year, primarily within Europe. To a large extent, you can arrange the travelling, so it fits into your life and schedule. On longer journeys, you will typically be accompanied by several colleagues.

This is what you offer
You work systematically, carefully coordinating all tasks and partners to make the most of your time to solve the problem at hand. Your colleagues will come to know you as disciplined and focused and as someone who enjoys the collaboration as much as the independency that comes with this job.

Moreover, we expect you to:

  • Have an educational background and/or relevant experience within automation software (the ROCKWOOL standard is Siemens S7/TIA and WinCC), PLC and SCADA systems
  • Bring experience with software design for manufacturing plants, providing highly automated high-volume production
  • Bring experience with automation networks and network security – however, this is an advantage, not a requirement
  • Be technically well versed and enjoy technical analysis and problem-solving involving advanced processes and complex regulated systems
  • Be able to communicate efficiently to international colleagues across all levels in the organisation
  • Speak and write English effortlessly – additional language skills are an advantage

This is what we offer
You will be part of an absolute key Group function and work with the newest technology in the ROCKWOOL Group. You will be able to put your fingerprint on some of the core processes and projects worldwide as you work for the Group and support your colleagues in the subsidiaries.

You will have an international career, meeting different cultures and colleagues from around the world, and you will find that not many days are the same. Your colleagues are helpful, professional and experienced experts. This job will continuously develop your professional and personal skills.
