The ROCKWOOL Group’s main business area is building insulation, providing thermal comfort along with fire safety and acoustical comfort for all types of buildings.

This is the Role:

Based out of the North American Head Office in Milton, ON, the Director of Logistics will oversee all aspects of distribution and transportation of finished product, with the objective to direct and manage the strategic development and execution of logistics across the North American distribution network and organization. Leading a team of 4 direct and 100+ indirect reports, and reporting directly to the Vice President Supply Chain, he/she is responsible for leading the Logistics team in developing, planning and executing logistics strategies that will deliver year over year cost savings, provide superior service, while supporting growth initiatives and exceeding customer expectations through best in class logistics solutions.

 Key Result Areas:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategy roadmap
  • Identify and implement short and long term strategic improvements in logistics efficiency
  • Investigate and implement the use of technology and automation to bring transformational performance in logistics operations
  • Deliver significant cost savings from freight and distribution through continuous improvement activities
  • Provide solutions to customers by aligning RWNA supply chain strategies to customer requirements
  • Secure appropriate transportation and storage capacity to support RWNA growth plans
  • Leverage shipment tracking technology to provide superior customer experience and improve carrier service delivery
  • Develop logistics dashboards and establish appropriate bench marking to drive performance
  • Maximize capacity utilization in all warehouse operations
  • Ensure the highest level of inventory accuracy across the network
  • Participate in cross functional projects and provide logistics expertise as required
  • Develop and improve procedures, policies and documentation that supports the control and accountability of the Planning process
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaboration with all key stakeholders (sales, manufacturing, supply chain: customer service, planning, procurement, sister OPCO’s, carriers, 3PL’s)
  • Coach, lead and develop the Logistics team across North America
  • Serve as an active member of the North American Supply Chain Leadership Team

This is what you offer:

  • University degree and a minimum of 10+ years supply chain experience, including at least five years in a management capacity
  • Experience in transportation, distribution, and 3PL management in a complex, multi-site, growth oriented manufacturing or distribution organization
  • Expert in field of logistics (transportation, distribution), with strong track record of delivering sustainable long-term business enhancements and efficiencies
  • Seasoned leader managing employees at multiple sites, through effective use of metrics and KPI’s
  • Demonstrated success building, transforming and leading a logistics function and team
  • Advanced systems aptitude (TMS/WMS) and excellent computer skills (working knowledge of SAP preferred)
  • Inspirational leader with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
