Electrical engineer for high-power installations

10 October 2019

Our purpose is simple and compelling: To release the natural power of stone to enrich modern living.

ROCKWOOL products save energy and water and reduce CO2 emissions, protect buildings from the spread of fire; reduce waste; improve acoustic comfort, building performance and aesthetics; and enhance Precision Growing, thereby improving the efficiency of fresh food production.

While the stone we use may be millions of years old, what we do with it is cutting-edge. Every day, ROCKWOOL colleagues are developing and applying new technologies to release yet more potential of stone wool to enrich modern life.

Would you also be proud to enrich society like we do? Apply now to join us as we improve modern living conditions for millions of people worldwide.

Can you see yourself as our main  specialist within electrical grid connections and furnace transformer installations – helping ROCKWOOL make the black-to-green energy transition worldwide?

Then step into this crucial and highly independent role. Here, you will be responsible for specifying our transformer installations and collaborating with electrical grid operators and vendors.

This is who we are
You will be part of our new Electrical Melting team of 9 engineers in Hedehusene, Denmark. We are part of Group Technology, responsible for designing and implementing our patented production equipment and solutions for our 30+ factories worldwide.

In ROCKWOOL, we have ambitious goals for reducing our CO2 footprint and water consumption. To help achieve our goals, we will transform our melting technology to electrical furnaces – and this is where your skill set comes into the picture.

This is the role
Our first projects are already on the drawing board – now we need you to take on a leading role and:

  • Specify HV and MV switch gear and transformers optimised to the electric furnace needs
  • Engage in dialogue with local grid companies and provide the information they need to secure the required grid connection and to understand how our equipment impact the grid
  • Investigate and shortlist suppliers
  • Participate in the electrical design of the melting plant and related equipment
  • Follow the projects from early design to the tendering parts in collaboration with our Procurement department and installation and commissioning as well as utilise learnings in the next project (not as project manager – someone else will take on this role)
  • Define and take responsibility for a set of standards within your area and ensure they are followed
  • Travel 50-80 days per year depending on project phases to visit suppliers and our factories all over the world.

This is what you offer
In order to succeed in this role, you must be organised and able to independently create structures and frameworks for your area of responsibility. You are ambitious, both regarding your own contributions and for those you collaborate with. Also, you thrive taking responsibility and figuring things out on your own while remaining curious to learn and find the right solutions, both within and outside your field.

  • You have a degree in electrical engineering
  • You have experience from a similar position, designing and/or specifying HV and MV switchgears, transformers and high-power installations
  • You have a deep understanding of the physics and losses of furnace transformers
  • You speak and write English fluently

This is what we offer
We greatly value our unique culture. As a company, we are based on strong Danish engineering traditions, and we are known to pull together to deliver something that truly creates a difference.

As we are still exploring the possibilities of the new furnace technology, you will have excellent possibilities for influencing the choice of standard solution, one that will be used in many projects in the years to come.

We have 61 nationalities in the ROCKWOOL Group, so you will have ample opportunity to develop your interpersonal skills and cultural understanding when implementing your solutions in our factories.

If you are interested in this fantastic opportunity, please do not hesitate to submit your application. The deadline is 3rd of November. In case of questions, please contact Department Manager GTE, Group Technology, Palle Yde Poulsen directly on telephone: +45 41 50 87 55.
