Maintenance Planner Job Summary
The Maintenance Planner plans, schedules and coordinates corrective and predictive/preventative maintenance activities by reviewing and managing work requests, analyzing job requirements and determining materials, equipment and labor requirements, in order to complete maintenance tasks economically, efficiently and in a timely manner. The Planner is also responsible for monitoring and improving work quality and efficiency by coordinating parts, machine time and labor requirements to eliminate potential delays and obstacles for the purpose of maintaining equipment reliability.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities of a Maintenance Planner?

  • Coordinate and plan a robust and effective maintenance program and processes to complete proactive maintenance schedule system that allows for consistent equipment availability and minimizes impact on production.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, operations team and production planner to determine equipment time, parts, and tools necessary for scheduled work orders and outages.
  • Staging necessary parts and equipment along with obtaining necessary prints and documentation needed for the work orders and outages.
  • Advises of all major problems and status of Plan/Schedule outage and day to day works and projects.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a Spare Parts management program utilizing Asset Essentials.
  • Order and maintain critical spare parts, parts necessary for work order completion and consumable parts.
  • Expectation is that spare and consumable parts are organized, inventoried and available when needed.

What professional skills and qualifications do you need for the role of a Maintenance Planner?

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, technical or trade school certification or equivalent required.
  • 5 years’ practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment and working with automated equipment required.
  • Welding, hydraulic, pneumatic and conveying systems experience required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)/Automation, specifically Siemens and Endress+Hauser instrumentation.

The employee must frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 60 pounds and/or occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 120 pounds with another person, shovel heavy waste to shoulder height.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
