Warehouse Technician Job Summary
The warehouse. More than an area to facilitate the distribution of goods, it’s an integral part of the ROCKWOOL supply chain that provides day-to-day management of finished goods, the housing of inventory, and is responsible for on-time shipment of products to meet customer orders. As a warehouse technician, you will support operations to meet the needs of the factory, ensuring products are aesthetically packaged to specifications and our high-quality standards. While the role is physical by nature, warehouse technicians are developed through training on equipment such as forklifts to complete their work, and educated on all safety procedures to know how to operate safely. Be part of a team motivated by continuous improvement, operational uptime, and ensuring the efficient movement of product across the warehouse at our manufacturing facility in Ranson, WV.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities of a Warehouse Technician?

  • Efficiently load and unload ROCKWOOL product and materials from pallets, skids, platforms, trucks, lifting devices or other transport sources while exercising care in handling finished product to ensure no damage is caused and that products are accurately labelled.
  • Implement a diligent inventory management process to account for product location and distribution which often involves using physical stock counts and investigating discrepancies and adjusting errors.
  • Maintain working equipment which may require basic troubleshooting and act as a first line of defense for process, mechanical and technical issues.
  • Working within a team-oriented and fast-paced environment, ensure the correct product volumes are produced and delivered against production plan and key performance factors as part of the customer order fulfilment team.
  • Adhere to ROCKWOOL’s established high-quality and environmental standards to identify and mitigate or escalate quality or environmental risks and issues.

What professional skills and qualifications do you need for the role of a Warehouse Technician?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift, clamp truck, or electric pallet jack required, preferably in a continuous flow manufacturing or industrial environment and working with automated equipment.
  • Grow and develop the team by sharing knowledge / experience.

The employee is occasionally required to hear, walk, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, and smell.

The employee must frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 60 pounds and/or occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 120 pounds with another person, shovel heavy waste to shoulder height, operate a powered industrial vehicle and use sharp instruments safely and effectively.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
