Job Purpose & Scope

To lead the Operational and Strategic planning of the Factory Maintenance function at WER.  Accountable for efficient factory operations and completion of relevant Maintenance projects across the site.

To ensure timely, efficient and cost-effective maintenance, repair of production plant, equipment buildings, roofs and outside areas (roads, parking places and factory green areas), to minimise stop time and provide maximum available production time.  Continually pursue efficiency and cost improvements without sacrificing production efficiencies or plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities & Job Content

  • Provide clear leadership and vision, to inspire and motivate employees and to develop a high performing team.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture so that inappropriate risk taking is eliminated and all employees participate in systematic, efficient and safe working practices
  • Promote a strong equality and diversity culture so that company policy relating to equality and diversity is supported and incorporated into day to day activity and any inappropriate behaviour is eliminated
  • Carry out all responsibilities in line with ROCKWOOL values. Promote and support all company policies, ensuring compliance with the procedures that accompany these and incorporating these into day to day practice
  • To ensure that the factory operates to maximise available production time 
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the planned maintenance system
  • Conduct equipment life span, obsolescence studies and develop appropriate upgrade / replacement strategies
  • Asset management to enable ROCKWOOL to achieve its goals in the most efficient way possible so that the organisation’s limited financial and human resources can be leveraged most effectively
  • Maintain compliance with relevant environmental regulations and company environmental targets
  • Ensure team are properly developed, resourced, supplied and managed to attain strategic objectives
  • People management of direct reports including regular performance reviews, attendance management, disciplinaries and complying with employee procedures as appropriate.
  • The personal development of maintenance staff to improve group performance and generate the calibre of employees required for future development.  Ensure the performance review process is followed across the maintenance and projects organisation and that individuals are assessed against up to date Job Descriptions and agreed standards of performance
  • Develop estates maintenance systems and procedures.  Support the Facilities Manager with the planning and coordination of all installations and refurbishments
  • To ensure continued compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations, implements work and plant procedures to minimise risk of fire and maintains a safe working environment to minimise accidents causing injury to personnel
  • Drive continuous improvement in housekeeping within the maintenance areas in conjunction with the Production Maintenance Manager
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed
  • Manage project performance against schedules, scheduled milestones and critical path items on multiple projects
  • Review project planning and coordination and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for productivity and process improvements, cost reductions and similar “best practice” initiatives
  • Participate in corrective action / Kaizen initiatives related to deficiencies and non-compliances with respect to response time, work quality, asset reliability
  • Identifies and manages opportunities and risks to achieve the best possible impact on schedule and financial targets
  • Maintains, tracks, and reports all financial aspects of project including forecasts and billing
  • Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success

This is what you offer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years’ experience in maintenance management role
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
  • Excellent organizational and prioritisation skills
